Community Involvement
At Katovich Law Group, our commitment to sustainability extends beyond operating responsibly and helping our clients do the same. Our attorneys and support staff believe in sustainability as a way of life and demonstrate that by actively participating in and supporting our local community.
John Katovich is a professor at Presidio School of Management, where all MBA candidates are focused on sustainability. His outside affiliations are geared toward both the development of new business, as well as the betterment of the planet: The Local Exchange Project, Corporation 2020, the World Business Academy, the DC Roundtable for Progressive Corporate Law Reform, the Conscious Business Institute, and Business Alliance for Local Living Economies.
Jenny Kassan is involved in numerous neighborhood development projects in the city of Oakland, including: Oakland Merchants Leadership Forum and Community Ventures, a program of the Tides Center. She previously worked with California Main Street Alliance and is the former Program Director at the Community Revitalization and Job Creation Program at the Unity Council, where she managed the Fruitvale Main Street Program, a program which has helped the neighborhood to become one of the most successful commercial districts in Oakland. She also provides pro bono services for small, locally-owned, businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Laura Svoboda is pursuing a degree in Landscape Horticulture at Merritt College, with a focus on design and implementation of regenerative systems. She volunteers at Ploughshares, a permaculture-based nursery whose proceeds provide job training funds for residents of the non-profit Alameda Point Collaborative. She is also a member of the Ecology Center and actively participates in their Bay Area Seed Interchange Library program.
